Feature story
Sitting across the
far end of the cafeteria, he had a nice posture glancing at the crystal clear
glass door as it squeaks to every entry. Gently rubbing the sole of his shoe
again the Arabian designed carpet he sips his coffee. The wall clock had ticked
past 7pm. Just an hour to go and the cafeteria would close, John grimace under
his breath. The night had drawn long and the cafeteria was almost half empty.
Outside was drizzling as he ogles through the window. Before he could check his
watch, the door gently opened and a girl of his age entered. She was the dream
type for most boys in High school. His eyes were drawn to her as though he had
been hypnotized by a fairy in the Peter Pan story. Without much attention to
time he remains gazing as she went for a cup of coffee and a few biscuits. He
could see her slim perfect built matching her swaying hips and long blond curly
hair knitted nicely across her soft
glowing face. Her tight night clothes reveal her untouched mounds inviting
to be explored. Soon she squinted. John eyeing her thoroughly.
She got her cup
of coffee and walked kindly to- wards his table. John was almost out of breath
by then. His heart was now pounding faster and his breath becomes heavier. “Hi,
would you mind me having a cup of coffee with you?” The tender and soft voice
asked. Her voice was symphony in the night air. John was silent for some
minutes. Ok!! I’d really appreci- ate your offer, he replied nervously. She
trod over to counter and returned with another cup of coffee. “That would make
it the second, I’ve just had a cup few minutes ago” John spoke under his
breath. Never mind, she giggle shyly and moved closer until their eyes meet.
Her lips seemed to attack the sparkle of the moon and the stars. “Hi, nice to
meet you.
I’m Ella. I’m doing my 12th grade at St George International in
Solomon Island. I represent Transparency International Solomon Island. John
could feel goose bumps all over as he re- plied, I’m John. With a shaky voice
his tried to conceal the uneasy chill running through his spine. He had never
had an encounter of such hys- spine. He had never had an encounter of such hys-
teria in his life. After a loud vibrating tone John reached into his pocket for
his phone. It was a message from Kipo, his best friend in high school.
Reading the message, he grins and his eyes met hers.”What!
She shrugs her shoulder and giggle.” Your girl wants you to give her a good
night bade? No! Nothing, John answered as he tried to cower.
Hmm, I hope so.
Ella acted innocent as she crouch her mounds against the table grovelling for
com- fort. Her tender hand was now caressing his palm, eyes winking and her
enticing curls now hanging loose. “You don’t have a girl friend, don’t you”?
She teased. That’s too personal, why should you know? John frowned as he spoke.
By then he could sense her flirting. Her legs were now fondling with his under
the table as she spoke. “Please I’m flying tomorrow at 5 am. I really need it
tonight for the first time of my life. Would you mind that”? John stared into
her eyes, it was blue with lust. He grasps, gave a loud sigh and stretched his
hands. I can’t afford that because we are both students. Oh, and by the way, I
don’t intend to dive without a suit, John tried to sound concern. “Never mind
sweetie, all I beg is for us to have a whale of a time overnight before we
disperse, Ella elatedly responded.
“I just don’t mind but wish we could have a child together
and that means tonight.” John peeped through the glass windows. The grandeur of
the Ponder Rosa neon security lights reminded him of the café closure time.
Ella, I think it’s almost time. We’d better leave the café its past nine. A few
minutes strode to the hotel rooms become mile to walk after they parted the
cafe. Learning on each other was the obvious thing to do as the out side down
poor had frozen the air. Coincidently they both had their rooms at the sec- ond
floor next to each other at the far and uttermost end of the building.
Approaching the respective apartment blocks, John unlocks his door. He was
about to air bound him-self onto his bed when a soft hand tapped him from self
onto his bed when a soft hand tapped him from behind.
“May I .......come...in
please”? An uneasy voice tried to sound confident. Well, but I’m going to bed,
it’s too late and my mind going dizzy, John gave his usual tiring remark. “It’s
cold and I too scared to be alone in my room. Would you mind if I sleep over
with you”? Ella gave a worried tone. By the way that’s fine accept that there’s
no double bunker king size bed in here. That means someone had to sleep on the
floor, John tried to be con- cerned. “Nothing matters more than the tension I
need to let go tonight, I’m flying tomorrow at 5:30pm”she remarked with lust.
OK! That is your mood but not mine, John rebut- ted. I don’t feel like making
it out with you tonight, besides I am a Christian and my body is the temple of
the Holy Spirit. I won’t defile it in just one night. Ella hung her head low;
she was dying of lust as John could see from her moves and eyes.
She stool, put on her shirt and dispersed to her room. John
slept it over in nightmares fantasying about the almost encounter till day
break. The next day John got on the ponderosa hotel bus and left for Jacksons
International airport. As they arrived the Solomon blue was now preparing for
it departure in five minutes time. Passengers call came from the departure
launch.
There was not time for John to bid Ella neither a nice goodbye hug nor a kiss as she rushed to the departure. The thought of the previous night came creeping in his mind like a monster haunting his emotions. “She had made an offer but I refused,” his throat went try. Ella turns for the last time, gave a flirty wave and walked into the plane. Never to meet John again as she was now on air to Solomon Island some thousand miles away from Papua New Guinea. John walked back to the bus like a stray dog, got in and went back to Ponderosa family hotel. That night he once more had terrible nightmares of her till dawn.
